ARE WE A GOOD MATCH?
Not all business relationships are a good match. Like dating, finding the right chemistry can sometimes be difficult. You are looking for the right design and printing company for your business needs... and we are looking for the right type of client for us as well. We like to start off on the same page with our clients. Below are a few important items to consider.
We like building long-term relationships with our clients. Branding your image is important. Many businesses give nearly zero thought to image branding and make the mistake of using several different design and printing companies for various needs or try doing it themselves. As a result, there is a lack of professonalism and consistency across their marketing materials and the integrity of the brand is weakened. What most businesses don't realize is, they should use just one design firm to handle ALL of their design and printing needs. Companies that do this ensure that a professional visual identity is applied throughout all of their marketing and printed materials.
We like clients who value great design, understand the importance of a professional image and are willing to make the investment required to achieve these objectives. Have you ever been willing to pay a little more for a certain name brand item because it was simply worth it? There is a wide range of design ability and print quality out there. We are not interested in clients whose only consideration is finding the lowest price, as if somehow every design and print company in the world is exactly the same. We want clients who value our time and talents and are looking for more experience and professionalism than the inexperienced designer straight out of college or print shop on the corner can offer. We provide high quality products and services for reasonable prices. Period. We are not interested in price wars and undercutting competitors. We are great at what we do and we value it and we want clients who value it as well. Remember, you get what you pay for.
We like clients who trust our design expertise. This is not to say we don't want your constructive feedback... we listen carefully to your directions, opinions, suggestions, and critiques—and we take everything you say into serious consideration. However, our years of education and experience are valuable tools that can produce great results if we are free to get creative and make design decisions without being micro-managed. We are trained and know things in the design and print world that the average person does not know. It is frustrating to be told to do things we were taught never to do without any concideration for why we made the design choices we made. Before making changes on a proof, please ask us why we did what we did. Chances are, there was a very good reason. Oh, and please don't trust the input of Jenny the Receptionist or your Aunt Bertha over our trained design professionals.
We like clients who are willing to work with us primarily via email instead of in person or on the phone. We have found that email encourages our clients to compose their thoughts and direction into a constructive set of instructions that we can easily work from and refer to rather than trying to hurriedly jot down jumbled comments from a phone call. Phone calls are also interruptive to the creative process. It's important for us to be able to stay in the creative flow and carry out a project without constant interruption. Furthermore, nothing is more distracting and destructive to the creative process than trying to design with someone looking over our shoulder. If you are the type of person that needs many phone calls and in-person interaction with your designer... probably not a good match.
